Missouri won four straight games and beat Rapid City 4-2 in the best-of-seven series. Mavericks’ forwards Kellan Tochkin and Sebastien Thinel each had two goals in the win. Kenton Miller had a goal and two assists for the Mavericks and goaltender Mathieu Corbeil stopped 24 of 25 shots for his second win of the series.

CHL’s Newest Team to be Known as Brampton Beast

After an extensive Name Your Team contest that saw roughly 2,000 unique entries, and over 3,000 different people submitting votes, the Beast was selected by the people of Brampton.
Morgan and Baker Return to Sundogs

Morgan, the 36-year-old, Newfoundland native joins the team for his second season as the Sundogs’ Team Captain. He was among the top three scorers for the Sundogs tallying 18 goals and 28 assists in 66 games.
Rapid City/Missouri Game 6 Postponed

The game was originally scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, April 9) with Game 7, if necessary, scheduled for Wednesday, April 10 but with the treacherous road conditions, high winds, freezing temperatures and snow accumulations in Rapid City, each game has been pushed back one day.
Thunder Announce First Two Dates of Semi-Finals vs. Fort Worth

Wichita will open up the best-of-seven series hosting Game 1 on Wednesday, April 10th at INTRUST Bank Arena at 7:05 p.m. The series is expected to follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format, but has not been finalized. The remainder of the schedule will be announced either later today or in the coming days.
King scores a pair of goals as Mavs send Rush to the brink
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks used a four-goal third period to defeat the Rapid City Rush, 5-2, in Game Five of their Opening Round series at Independence Events Center.
The Mavericks now hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series which shifts back to Rapid City for Game Six on Tuesday, April 9.
Americans Advance After Fourth Straight Win
The Allen Americans have advanced in the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup playoffs thanks to their 6-2 win in Game 5 of their best-of-7 Opening Round series against the Denver Cutthroats. Denver won Game 1 of the series before Allen, the Governors’ Cup Champs, reeled off four straight victories.
Allen’s Brian McMillin and Jarret Lukin scored goals within a five minute stretch of the opening period gaining momentum for the home team. For McMillin, it was his fourth goal of the playoffs.
Brahmas Close out Mallards, Advance to Semi-Finals
MOLINE, Illinois – The Fort Worth Brahmas defeated the Mallards by the final score of 1-0 in game five of the opening-round, best-of-seven series Saturday night to eliminate Quad City and advance to the Central Hockey League semi-finals versus the Wichita Thunder. The Brahmas defeated the Mallards four games to one.
After two and a half periods of scoreless hockey, Shawn Szydlowski broke the tie at 9:59 of the third period as he fired a wrist shot from the slot that deflected off of Mallards defeneseman Bob Preece’s stick and into the back of the net.
Mallards Roll Past Brahmas, Force Game Five
MOLINE, Ill. – Mickey Lang scored twice as the host Quad City Mallards rolled to 5-2 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas Friday night to avoid being swept in the best-of-seven opening round of the Central Hockey League playoffs, cut the Brahmas’ lead in the series to three games to one and force a fifth game tomorrow night in Moline.
The Mallards never looked back after exploding for four first period goals and outshooting the Brahmas 19-5 in the opening 20 minutes. Lang’s wrist shot from the top of the right wing circle kick-started the onslaught at 4:01 of the first.
Mavericks Even Series with 4-2 Win over Rapid City
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks evened their best-of-seven series at two games apiece with a 4-2 win over the Rapid City Rush Friday night at Independence Events Center. Kenton Miller scored two goals for Missouri in the win and rookie goaltender Mike Clemente made 24 saves on 26 shots in his first professional playoff win.
It was a penalty filled game as a total of 23 infractions were called and a total of 15 power plays were awarded. Missouri finished 2-for-9 on the power play and Rapid City was 0-for-6. Read more →
Brahmas vs. Mallards Game 4 Preview
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 5) – Leading three games to none in the opening-round, best-of-seven playoff series, the Fort Worth Brahmas have the chance to sweep the Quad City Mallards with a win in game four at the i Wireless Center Friday night.
Fort Worth has won the first three games of the series by a combined score of 10-5, despite the last two wins coming in overtime.
Thunder Sweep Away Sundogs; Advance to Next Round
Prescott Valley, AZ (April 3rd) - In a see-saw affair on Wednesday night, Les Reaney scored four minutes into the first overtime session to give the Thunder a 4-3 win over Arizona at Tim’s Toyota Center.
Wichita earns its second sweep in franchise history and first since the 1993-94 CHL Finals against the Tulsa Oilers. Greger Hanson scored two goals while Reaney had a goal and an assist.
Brahmas Take 3-0 Series Lead in Dramatic Fashion
MOLINE, Illinois (April 3) – The Brahmas defeated the Quad City Mallards in overtime Wednesday night for the second consecutive time, as forward Colin Mulvey scored the first goal of his professional career to give the Brahmas a 3-2 win and a 3-0 series lead.
Signed to an amateur try-out agreement in late March, Mulvey joined the club for the 2013 postseason. In just his third game with Fort Worth, the Worcester, Massachusetts native notched the game-winning goal 10:32 into overtime, putting home a rebound off of a Ross Rouleau shot from the point.
