Chappell becomes dependable part of Thunder offense

Mele contributes, big-game Boucher and an interesting guest

Playing a hunch, Komets coach Al Sims started rookie forward Tom Mele on Tuesday. Mele has mostly been used sparingly as the 10th forward so far in the series.

“I wanted to get some energy right away in our team and get the crowd going,” Sims said. “Tommy threw a big hit right at the start and so did someone else. The 30th Game 7 in CHL History Set for Thursday

The first Game 7 of thee 2012 Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup playoffs will take place on Thursday night in the Turner Conference Finals when the Fort Wayne Komets host the Missouri Mavericks.

The Mavs won the first two games of the series, both in Fort Wayne, and the Komets won Game’s 3 and 4 in Missouri before the team’s held serve on home ice splitting Game’s 5 and 6. Read more →

Chaulk leaves mark – again

The résumé of Komets center Colin Chaulk is chock full of terrific performances in pivotal games, and Tuesday will go down as one of the best.

Mavs miss chance to finish Komets

Ouch!

This one hurt – it really hurt – as the Missouri Mavericks failed to claim Game 6 in the best-of-seven Turner Conference championship series, falling to Fort Wayne 4-1 Tuesday night on the Komets’ home ice.

The series is now even at three wins apiece and will be decided at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when the teams lock up in a game that will decide the fate of both squads. Read more at: examiner.net
