Fort Wayne Takes Game 7 and Advances to Finals

In the 30th Game 7 in CHL playoff history, an offensive explosion led to a 6-4 win for the Fort Wayne Komets over the Missouri Mavericks at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Thursday night.

The Komets will now advance to the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Finals to face the Wichita Thunder. Read more →

All or Nothing for Mavs, Komets Tonight in Game 7

Playoff Series: With the series tied 3-a-piece we see the Missouri Mavericks and the Fort Wayne Komets face off in the first game 7 of the 2012 playoffs.

The Mavs have never seen a game 7 but have faced deciding games twice (Game 3 in 2010 versus Mississippi and Game 5 in 2011 versus Wichita) and have gone 2-0 in those games.  Read more →

Rush licking their wounds well into offseason

Rapid City head coach Joe Ferras and assistant coach Mark DeSantis are now squarely focused on the Rush’s upcoming fifth year in the Central Hockey League, but they still have some important holdovers to take care of from this year.

Komets, Mavericks and fans excited for Game 7

Just like their fans, the Fort Wayne Komets and Missouri Mavericks are probably scared spitless and also a little giddy right now.

Goalie Charlie Effinger a real net asset for Missouri Mavericks

Acquired via trade with the Allen Americans during the 2009-10 season, Charlie Effinger helped power a late-season rally as the Missouri Mavericks made the playoffs in their inaugural season.

He earned almost legendary status in local hockey circles before parting ways with the Mavericks last season. Not that Effinger, 26, who grew up in the St. Louis suburb of Belleville, Ill., necessarily wanted to part ways. Read more at: kansascity.com

K’s look to finish job in Game 7
