Americans Add Power Forward in Gallant

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans came to terms on Friday with right-wing power-forward, Bradley Gallant, on a one-year contract for the 2012-2013 season.

He spent the last four seasons with St Thomas University, in the CIS, from 2008-2012. Gallant’s best season came in 2012, when he had 16 points in 26 games. Prior to that, he spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior League from 2005-2008, two seasons with Cape Breton, and one with Prince Edward Island.

Oilers Gain New Offensive Weapon In Gingera

At the end of the 2011-12 season, the 5’10” 190-pound Gingera played six games for the Chicago Express of the ECHL after completing an outstanding collegiate career at Sacred Heart University.  In four years with the Pioneers, Gingera became one of the most prolific goal-scorers in school history.  The Winnipeg native is fourth on Sacred Heart’s all-time career goal list with 61 and during his senior season, Gingera led his team in goals, assists, and points.

“I’m extremely excited to welcome Matt to Tulsa,” said Ramsay.  “He’s a highly-skilled player and his point production in college was impressive.  I really expect him to be a top-six forward for our team.”

Blaze Sign Junior Coach, Returning Forward

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, has signed Travis Granbois for his third consecutive year with Bloomington hockey.

Granbois (pronounced “GRAN-bwah”) will be joining returning forwards Jon Booras and Matthew Larke as well as defenseman Aaron Dawson. Last season with the Bloomington Blaze, the British Columbia native scored 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 60 games. He spent 100 minutes in the penalty box last season after racking 131 penalty minutes in the prior campaign. Granbois is primarily a forward but can be utilized as a defenseman.

Fish Bolster Blueline with Addition of Makway

DENVER, CO – The Denver Cutthroats announced today they have signed defenseman Steve Makway to their roster for the upcoming 2012-13 Central Hockey League season.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound veteran is set to begin his ninth year as a professional and sixth in the CHL.

“Steve brings a combination of size and grit to our lineup,” said Cutthroats’ Head Coach Derek Armstrong. “He plays in all situations – five-on-five, power play, penalty kill. And he’s experienced in what it takes to win in the CHL so we’re excited to add him to our defensive unit.”

Americans Bring Back Nino Musitelli

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans and Head Coach Steve Martinson announced that the club has reached an agreement with free agent forward, Nino Musitelli for the 2012-2013 season.

Nino Musitelli played in 121 games in two seasons for the Americans, scoring 133 points. He had his best season in 2010-2011, when he netted 34 goals and 36 assists.

Oilers Add Youth to Blue Line with Signing of Register

TULSA, OK – The Tulsa Oilers announced today the signing of Matthew Register for the 2012-13 season.

Register, a 6’2″ 205-pound defenseman, is entering his second season of professional hockey. Last year Register played in 22 games for the Allen Americans including two contests against Tulsa. The 22-year old finished his rookie campaign with one goal, three assists, and a +4 rating.

Mavericks Re-sign Smith and McCready, add forward LeBlanc

The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has added three players to their 2012-13 roster.  Defenseman Matt McCready and forward Brandon Smith each return to the Mavericks, and forward Derek LeBlanc has signed with the club.  The Mavericks now have seven players under contract for the 2012-13 season.

“We are slowly piecing together our team for next year with the types of players that we believe can continue to make us better,” said Mavericks’ Head Coach Scott Hillman.

Denver Product Fulghum Signs with Cutthroats

DENVER CO – The Denver Cutthroats announced today they’ve signed forward, and Colorado Springs native, Luke Fulghum to their roster for their upcoming inaugural season in the Central Hockey League.

The University of Denver product will begin his ninth professional season in October, and has averaged nearly a point-per-game in that span – scoring 384 points in 391 contests.

Sundogs Keeping Busy in the off Season

The ice may be long gone at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ, but the Arizona Sundogs are busy as ever, reaching out into the community in a big way.

General Manager of Arizona Sundogs Hockey, Chris Presson, says, “Community involvement is a hallmark of our organization. The Sundogs have always belonged to this community. Killer Bees Suspend Operations

The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are sad to announce that the franchise will not be operating in the Rio Grande Valley for the 2012-13 season. The economics of playing in the Valley are no longer financially viable.

With the loss of Laredo for this coming season and losses of close rivals such as Corpus Christi and Austin in recent years have created a larger financial burden than the team can bear.

Bees’ professional run ending, junior team coming

Professional hockey is leaving the Rio Grande Valley.

Multiple CHL sources confirmed Tuesday that due to increasing financial difficulties, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees will not compete in the Central Hockey League in the 2012-13 season and are in the process of selling their assets. The team is expected to announce the decision Wednesday, ending its nine-season run in the CHL. Read more at: themonitor.com

Blaze Sign Returning Defenseman

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, has signed their first defenseman and another familiar face to their 2012-13 roster.

Joining forwards Jon Booras and Matthew Larke is Aaron Dawson, who returns for his second year with the Blaze. He maintained a spot on the 2011-12 roster for the entire 66-game season.

Fleck Signs on for Fourth Season in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – He’s laced up the skates for 13 CHL seasons and more than 700 games, but Tyler Fleck isn’t ready to call it a career.

The Tulsa Oilers announced today that the 33-year old defenseman has signed for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Last season, Fleck played in all 66 games for the Oilers. He chipped in three goals and five assists while anchoring Tulsa’s defensive unit and serving as a constant presence on the Oilers penalty kill.

CHL MVP Finalist Returns to Wichita

The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League kicked off its off-season by bringing back CHL MVP Finalist Matt Robinson for the 2012-13 season.

Robinson, 26, has been a major part of the rebuilding process that has taken place under Head Coach Kevin McClelland. The South Surrey, BC native was third on the team in scoring with 34 goals and 24 assists. He recorded three straight game-winners that helped earn him Oakley Player of the Week Honors for the week of February 20th and was named the Oakley Number One Star for the month.

Rush Extend Head Coach Joe Ferras Through 2014-15

(Rapid City, SD) – The Rapid City Rush announced on Friday that it has extended Head Coach Joe Ferras’ contract through the 2014-15 season. Ferras is among the winningest coaches in CHL history and has guided the Rush to the second-most wins over the past three seasons, including a 2010 Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Championship.

The 2012-13 season will be Ferras’ 10th as a head coach in the CHL where he has compiled a 304-223-49 record for a .570 win percentage. In the last three seasons in Rapid City, Ferras has guided the Rush to an impressive 121-58-17 record and a .661 win percentage.
