The Wichita Thunder held serve for the second straight game beating the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in Game 2 of their best-of-7 Opening Round series by a 2-1 score.
The Thunder now lead the series 2-0 with the scene shifting to South Texas for games on Wednesday and Thursday at the State Farm Arena.
For the second straight game, the Bees scored first and took a lead into the first intermission. Tomas Klempa scored the power play goal for the Bees giving them that 1-0 advantage.
In the second period, the Thunder tied things up when Dustin Donaghy scored with about four minutes remaining in the middle frame.
Wichita took their first lead in the third period with Chris Greene scoring at the 3:11 mark, his second point of the night.
Adam Russo made 19 saves earning his second win of the post-season.
John Murray was stellar despite taking the loss stopping 41 of 43 shots.
